Tutorial: Proper Migration Process for Divi Desktop Wallet
This guide explains how to migrate your Divi Desktop Wallet from your old computer to your new computer.
What You’ll Need:
- 1 USB flash drive
- 2 computers: the Old Computer (where your Divi Desktop Application is currently installed) and the New Computer (where you want to migrate your Divi Desktop Application and related wallet).
Step 1: Set Up the New Computer
- Download the Divi Desktop Application from https://diviproject.org/downloads.
- Install the Divi Desktop Application on the New Computer.
- Allow the Divi Desktop Application to sync with the blockchain fully.
- You do not need to copy the seed words on the New Computer during this process, we will be importing your wallet files.
- This step ensures that the Divi Desktop Application is Fully synced with the blockchain before proceeding.
Step 2: Prepare the USB Flash Drive
- Insert your USB flash drive into the Old Computer.
- Create a folder on your USB flash drive named DIVI-BACKUP.
- This folder will store the backup of your wallet. Keep your USB flash drive safe and secure.
Step 3: Back Up the Wallet files on the Old Computer
- Close the Divi Desktop Application on the Old Computer.
- Select Exit when prompted.
- Open a Run dialog box:
- Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard.
- Type in
%appdata%
and press Enter. - Open the DIVI folder (do not touch the Divi Desktop folder).
- Copy the following 3 items from the DIVI folder:
- backups (folder)
- monthlyBackups (folder)
- wallet.dat (file)
- Paste these 3 items into the DIVI-BACKUP folder you created on your USB flash drive in Step 2.
Step 4: Restore the Wallet on the New Computer
Confirm that the Divi Desktop Application on the New Computer is fully synced with the blockchain.
Close the Divi Desktop Application on the New Computer.
- Select Exit when prompted.
Open a Run dialog box:
- Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard.
Type in
%appdata%
and press Enter.Open the DIVI folder (do not touch the Divi Desktop folder).
Delete the following 3 items from the DIVI folder:
- backups (folder)
- monthlyBackups (folder)
- wallet.dat (file)
Insert the USB flash drive containing the DIVI-BACKUP folder created in Step 3 into the New Computer.
Open the DIVI-BACKUP folder on the USB flash drive.
Copy the following 3 items from the DIVI-BACKUP folder on the USB flash drive:
- backups (folder)
- monthlyBackups (folder)
- wallet.dat (file)
Paste these 3 items into the DIVI folder on the New Computer.
Open the Divi Desktop Application on the New Computer.
